The 4 years I spent living in SF in medical school were some of the most miserable of my life, and it wasn't because of UCSF Med School. I fell in love with SF for some of the same reasons as the author of this article (vibrant diversity, beautiful weather and scenery, exciting shit to do), but the reality of the place was much the way he describes it. Diversity without connection, an underlying meanness everywhere, horrible public transport...oh, and the COST. I now live closer to Silicon Valley in suburbs and there's much more sense of community and friendliness. Hopefully San Francisco can fix its shit because it is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth and it's really tragic to witness its decline. https://noahpinion.substack.com/p/nobody-says-hi-in-san-francisco
Hanging in a traditional Japanese (traditional) machiya house, very roomy (by hotel room comparison), traditional futon beds, pour coffee. A super cool experience! Even sporting the Z-Merch! (pics in comments)
From Sunday Zen on YouTube! Enjoy ❤️
Let's dive deep into the themes of trust, surrender, and the Threads of Awakening model introduced by Dr. Pierce Salguero in this live episode of Sunday Zen.
I've been reflecting on how traditional spiritual models can leave us feeling lost, stuck, or even scared, and how Pierce's approach offers a more inclusive framework that resonates with my own experiences.
We share insights on the different threads—emptiness, energy, unity, and psyche—and how they manifest in our lives. We discuss the challenges of spiritual ego, which I've grappled with myself, and discuss the role of psychedelics in opening new pathways of understanding. And we touch on the importance of embracing the unknown as the true entry point to the nature of reality.
Topics covered include:
The Threads of Awakening model and its impact
Trust and surrender in the spiritual journey
Navigating spiritual ego and its pitfalls
Psychedelics as tools
Embracing the unknown and the ...
New puppy, new plants, and the neighborhood low-key burning down (well ALMOST).
Mix in jet-lag (thankfully normalizing) and pulling mandatory OT 🥵. Never a dull moment, yet all EXACTLY right.
…Well everything EXCEPT the mandatory xtra shifts, that sh*t should be illegal.
PS challenged @zdoggmd to a gardening contest, pretty sure I’m winning cuz there’s HELLA tomatoes 🍅 on those vines, plus 🌽 🫛 🌶️ 🫑 🍇 🥕!
We made it home on Monday after spending 4 weeks in Canada traveling around in our trailer and truck. What a trip. I had no idea how gorgeous the Canadian Rockies are. We saw both the Alberta and the British Columbia side. And I know we missed a lot. I have a video to show too. Grizzly Mom and her 2cubs 2sites down from us at the Lake Louise Hardside Campground ( yes they have a “soft side” campground for tents that is surrounded by electric fencing). I was sitting outside in the morning with the dog, earphones in, when the person across the way caught my attention. “Get your dog inside” and pointed to the bears. Unforgettable.
Here are some vacation pictures of hiking and horseback riding in Utah with my granddaughter Mickiah. We visited Capital Reef and Bryce Canyon National Parks and Escalante National Monument. So amazing and beautiful! We both adore horses and the ones we were given for our trail ride were sweethearts❤️
