Our beautiful chooks here supply all the eggs we eat at home and we wondered about keeping a few meat birds too, just standard farm broilers, so chatting about it have found out something that makes me mad and sad. The broiler birds I'm looking for are bred for the meat industry and for meat alone. You can't keep them longer than 6 weeks as they just start dying. Their hearts fail. We've manipulated these birds into meat growth things, they can't live. Isn't that insane.
(and this lovely pic of our chickens is from last year. Right now they're locked up to comply with the Bird Exclusion Zone we're in because of Bird Flu meantime the field next to us has maybe a 1000 wild geese on it - guess they can't read the Exclusion Zone signs ) 🤷♀️
Another crazy convo with my friend, author of over 100+ books and storytelling expert Johnny B. Truant! This one is audio only, enjoy! https://zdoggmd.com/podcasting/world-is-story/
I found someplace I'm going this summer. The Health Museum in Houston. I'd never heard of it until today. I was looking at where the Houston Holocaust Musuem was, and on my phone I saw that there was The Health Museum. The Museum District in Houston is located near the Medical District, and Rice University is also nearby. One of my cousins now lives in Cypress, which is an unincorporated part of Harris County, just outside Houston (Houston is the fourth largest city by population in the United States and is the county seat of Harris County), so I might see if she and her husband would want to come join me for lunch afterwards.
