Our beautiful chooks here supply all the eggs we eat at home and we wondered about keeping a few meat birds too, just standard farm broilers, so chatting about it have found out something that makes me mad and sad. The broiler birds I'm looking for are bred for the meat industry and for meat alone. You can't keep them longer than 6 weeks as they just start dying. Their hearts fail. We've manipulated these birds into meat growth things, they can't live. Isn't that insane.
(and this lovely pic of our chickens is from last year. Right now they're locked up to comply with the Bird Exclusion Zone we're in because of Bird Flu meantime the field next to us has maybe a 1000 wild geese on it - guess they can't read the Exclusion Zone signs ) 🤷♀️

Between the USSR and People's Republic of China, the deaths of 70,000,000 to 100,000,000 were caused by an antireligion belief system that cast its leaders (Stalin, Mao, Lenin, Marx, and so forth) as religious figures. Those who did live, lived in terror of being seen as the enemy of the people. Socialism/Communism (Communism has never been tried and all Communist countries are Socialist) doesn't work as advertised, but it never accepts fault so it has to murder and use terror to cover for the failure of its leaders and system. This has been proven for over a century and has become axiomatic.
