Live Q+A From Instagram

We talked identity, burnout, left/right hemispheres, and much more! One correction: erythritol unlike other sugar alcohols is absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted mostly in the urine unchanged. So a bit less sharting involved 💩

Our beautiful chooks here supply all the eggs we eat at home and we wondered about keeping a few meat birds too, just standard farm broilers, so chatting about it have found out something that makes me mad and sad. The broiler birds I'm looking for are bred for the meat industry and for meat alone. You can't keep them longer than 6 weeks as they just start dying. Their hearts fail. We've manipulated these birds into meat growth things, they can't live. Isn't that insane.
(and this lovely pic of our chickens is from last year. Right now they're locked up to comply with the Bird Exclusion Zone we're in because of Bird Flu meantime the field next to us has maybe a 1000 wild geese on it - guess they can't read the Exclusion Zone signs ) 🤷‍♀️

The Other Side of Death

We strive so hard for permanence
in this fragile temporary place
on the other side of death.

We collect as many materials as we can
lay firm foundations, build tall and complex structures
to create an illusion of stability
on the other side of death.

Then we shelter inside, behind our walls
repeating our routines, enjoying our comforts
dulling our minds with distractions
to forget our precarious state
on the other side of death.

All the time we sway between two worlds
teetering towards the precipice
with only chance to hold us here
on the other side of death.

How would we live if we could sense
the millions of processes that maintain our lives
and could malfunction at any moment
or the accidents that avoid us every hour
and allow us to stay for longer
on the other side of death?

And because we cling to permanence
we weep when our hold begins to slip
and we feel ourselves falling, and crossing over
to the other side of life.

As if a forest fire is tearing towards us
and we’re forced to flee our home
